My boyfriend and I booked the spacious function room upstairs (it was free to hire!) for our engagement party, and had an amazing night! The room is tastefully decorated and had everything we needed . There's a large dance floor, bar area and lovely cozy area with seating and sofas which caters for all types of guests and has a great atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend it as somewhere to throw a party, and the staff were so willing to help, even made us a gorgeous chilli (my dad said it was the best chilli he had ever had!) and all the extras to cater for our 60 guests, along with helping us to arrange live music for the night- nothing was too much trouble!

The staff were incredibly helpful and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was fabulous! Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Everyone commented on the variety and quality. We opted for the traditional buffet and it had the usual favourites with some amazing extras. From start to finish communication was clear and easy. The room set-up was perfect for a family party with a clear dance floor area, buffet and bar and comfortable seating at the other end of the room. Little touches such as providing a light box and letters and numbers to complete the set up was a bonus! I would thoroughly recommend this venue.

Welcome your guests with one of our generous buffets, graze tables, platters or hot dishes. Enjoy attentive service from the fully staffed private bar. Play your own music over our in-house sound system or hire a DJ or band for the dedicated dancefloor. Decorate the room as you wish or simply switch on our ceiling of fairy lights. We’re a 5 minute walk from Chester Train Station and moments away from the many accommodation options of City Road.
Dates get booked up far in advance. Use the contact form below or give Sophie a call on 07557 209243 (please do not text or WhatsApp) to view the room & discuss your requirements. (We don’t work every day so won’t always reply straight away, but we will get back to you.) We also have a free-to-hire function room across the road at our sister bar, The Cellar which may be available on your chosen date, even if The Cornerhouse isn’t.
Please note: we do not host children’s parties, 18ths - 21sts, baby showers, gender reveals, stag or hen parties. Please also note that we are only able to offer a free-to-hire venue by ensuring that the parties we book are profitable, and any booking enquiry may be discounted on that basis.
